Demand Choice Resources

Rogers has struck a backroom deal with Shaw to take over public assets crucial to delivering our mobile Internet and phone services – assets that were promised to create new independent choices for Canadians, not more control for Big Telecom. We do not deserve this.

The deal will allow our biggest mobile phone and Internet provider, Rogers Inc., to get around the spirit of Canada’s key digital policy rules so they can grow even bigger, jack up your bill, and all but guarantee that Canadians have only three mobile telecom giants to choose from.

Stop The Trap Resources

Right now, a group of 600 industry lobbyist "advisors" and un-elected government trade representatives are scheming behind closed doors to craft an international agreement called the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

The TPP's Internet trap is secretive, extreme, and it could criminalize your daily use of the Internet. We deserve to know what will be blocked, what we and our families will be fined for.

No Internet Lockdown Resources

Big Media lobbyists are trying to lock down the Internet in Canada through legislation like Bill C-11 (now passed) and the trade agreements ACTA and TPP.

We’re now looking at the “most restrictive digital lock provisions in the world” and Big Media is still hoping for powers that include website blocking and Internet termination, even for unproven allegations of infringement.

This approach is backwards: it suffocates online choice and it’s patently unfair. It's time for policy makers to stop listening to megacorporate lobbyists and work to put Canada on the map as a leader in Internet openness and affordability.

Stop The Cell Phone Squeeze Resources

The Big Three cell phone giants have a plan for Canada:

1. Squeeze independent providers out of the cell phone market.
2. Squeeze more money out of your wallet every month through new fees on your bill.
3. Squeeze Canadians into tighter, longer-term contracts with disrespectful customer service.

The Big Telecom scheme will cripple innovation, drain your wallet every month, and put Canada even further behind the rest of the world on mobile communications. Canadians already pay some of the highest cell phone fees in the industrialized world, and Big Telecom is trying to make our unfair, expensive situation even worse.
