OpenMedia.ca has obtained a conference call between Shaw executives and shareholders. The call reveals that the telecom giant will join other big phone and cable companies by imposing a metered Internet pricing scheme after the election.

We need all the major political parties to make a commitment to fix the growing problem of out-of-control Internet fees.

OpenMedia.ca asked each of the parties to outline their plan of action in our all-party Digital Future Survey. We received answers from every major federal party...with the exception of the Conservative Party of Canada.

The Conservative Party of Canada is the one party that has not responded to the Digital Future Survey put out by OpenMedia.ca. Canadians want to learn more about where all the parties stand on rising Internet fees. By refusing to answer us, you are leaving voters in the dark. 

When your party stood up against the pay meter on our Internet this winter I thought you were on our side. In flippantly dismissing the Digital Future Survey, the Conservatives are giving the cold shoulder not only to the half-a-million Canadians who signed the Stop The Meter petition, but to all voters concerned with Canada’s digital future. Please put pressure on your party leaders to respond to citizens, and clarify the Conservative vision for Canada's digital future.

Your party's positions (or lack thereof) on key Internet issues will help guide my voting decision. 

Right now you have a unique opportunity to let voters know where you stand, and I want to hear from you.

Le Parti Conservateur du Canada est le seul qui n'a pas répondu à l'Enquête sur le Futur Numérique publiée par OpenMedia.ca. Les canadiennes et les canadiens veulent en savoir plus sur la position des partis sur les frais internet qui augmentent. En refusant de nous répondre, vous laissez les électeurs dans l'obscurité.

Lorsque votre parti s'est posé contre la facturation à l'usage de l'internet cet hiver, je croyais que vous étiez de notre côté. En mettant de côté l'Enquête sur le Futur Numérique, les conservateurs tournent le dos non seulement au demi-million de candiens qui ont signé la pétition "Stop the Meter", mais aux électeurs qui ont à coeur le futur numérique du Canada.

La position de votre parti (ou son absence) sur les enjeux clés de l'internet m'aideront à prendre une décision éclairée, et j'ai besoin de votre réponse.

Je veux aussi savoir que, si vous êtes élus, vous freinerez la facturation à l'utilisation,  pour améliorer l'accès à l'internet, la transparence et la liberté de choix. Et voici comment.
